Nach dem Erfolg ihres letzten Albums „Cult“ haben sich BAYSIDE rund zwei Jahre Zeit gelassen, um die nächste Langrille vorzulegen. „Vacancy“, der siebte Streich der Indie-Rocker, erscheint am 19. August via Hopeless Records.
Gitarrist und Sänger Anthony Raneri, der in der Zwischenzeit nach Nashville gezogen ist und Vater wurde, beschreibt die Platte folgendermaßen: „The hotel on the album cover reflects the feelings I had while working on ‚Vacancy‘. Writing this album, I felt as if everything was uncertain, I could move back to New York, buy a house in Nashville… I just didn’t know what was going to come next. I felt very isolated and as if everything in my life was temporary at that moment“.
Neben Raneri zog es auch Gitarrist Jack O’Shea nach Nashville, während Drummer Chris Guglielmo nach Kalifornien abwanderte. In New York blieb einzig Bassit Nick Ghanbarian, was die Arbeit an „Vacancy“ bis zur gemeinsamen Aufnahmezeit merklich erschwerte.
Raneri dazu: „It definitely changed the process. Ironically, even with the new constraints, we created our most complex and highly ambitious record.“
